light yellow code 117 doesn't exist?

I went to my trusty PPG paint supplier and he said he can't mix 1972 911 paint code 117, light yellow! Just can't do it he said .. I have never heard of such a thing. So I went to NAPA and they looked for 15 minutes and couldn't come up with a formula either. So any suggestions?!

Glasurit/BASF can. English Paint and Supply is a national distributor that I went through for my saturn yellow.

The problem is some of the toners for bright yellow are like unobtanium.

The old ones with lead in them are. Glasurit has reformulated their formulas to account for the difference in leaded toners versus current toners used in the 22 and 55 lines. All paint manufacturers have had to do that over the years.
Any color can be mixed, just need to have the correct formula. For the colors where no modern formulation exists it takes a guy who can mix paint, understands formulas and color. Usually you find those guys at a Shop who mixes their own (mixing bank) not at the Jobber. Most of the guys who work at a paint jobber are clueless about that. They can follow a formula given to mix it, but have no understanding of color to deviate from that formula.

If you are on a budget look into Automotive Art Motobase (BC) or Motocryl. Motobase is really high quality stuff. Solids cover in 2 coats usually. Coverage is a prime indicator of quality. Color match on Porsche and Euro stuff in general is spot on. As good as Glasurit really. And it's less than half the cost of Glasurit. I have used a ton of the stuff on cars of all makes over the years and really like it.

AA has formulas for 117 in both base and single stage.

If you can afford the Glasurit by all means go for it. 22 is my all time favorite single stage. If you are trying to stay on budget the Motobase/Motocryl is my favorite alternative.

I'm fortunate to have a distributor about an hour from me in Martinsville VA, so that is where I get mine. Call AA and give them your location and they can give you the nearest distributor.

I do know one guy who will mix and ship anywhere in the US. Good guy runs a Resto Shop/Paint supply house. I don't get mine from him but I know several who do and are happy with his service.

117 hellgelb ( light yellow )used from 1972 to 1977 on the 911 comes right up in 22 line formula in glasurit
it's a very common color for the years used. if you want to do it in a base clear you would have to go with the BASF limco paint line.
