New headlight install problem.
So I am trying to install new flat six Headlights on my 1975 911s . Problem is there isn’t much left of the protruding part of the trim ring lip that circles the headlight bucket . At the top of the bucket there needs to be a piece about 1” wide that the trim ring , in my case the full assembly hooks onto to hold it in place while the bottom retaining screw is installed. Any ideas on how to make this happen ?[img]http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploads26/IMG_71331710200572.jpg[/img

I hook the top into place then push the bottom into place. Then while pushing down firmly I put the retainer screw in the bottom. It seems to work and don't be afraid to be heavy handed with it.

make sure the seal is oriented correctly....I can't remember perfectly, but there is one part that goes over the flange that is not immediately obvious - get it backwards and it is headlight hell.
I can't find the thread this is discussed, but for me, once I got the correct seal (there apparently are fatter ones and skinnier ones), my H4's went in smoothly, although pushing like hell is part of the process. D. |

It's going to be a struggle to get those headlamps to properly seat with the thickness of that seal. I had the same issue with my H4's, but here's the trick:
Use the headlamp to body seals for the 356 as they are slightly thinner (sold by our host under part # PCG-631-115-00-OEM). Once installed they look identical to the 911 seals and nobody will ever know. |

You may find some helpful info in this thread:
Audette headlamp fitment difficulties Comment about the seal above is true. This is generally a **** way to mount a headlamp, but a thinner seal does help, as does the technique also mentioned above.
