RSR front cooler baffle

Thought I would move this into this forum. I had posted it a while back in the techinial forum, but this may be a better place for it. Not bodywork per se, but more "tub work"

This was my first attempt at any metal work, on a car. I have done some welding and have a good rig (miller 175) but am by no means and expert, or even intermidiate....

Anyways, I got my baffle from Elephant and cut the tub and welded it in. Then I used seam sealer top and bottom. Applied some gravel gaurd to the exposed side and then color matched it. I think it turned out okay...

Cheers

Jeff- Not that you will be using one but do you think a spare can still fit in the front trunk? I have an inflated spare, not the collapsible unit. My car needs a little rust repair at the front of the tub and since the car is far from original anyway installing this baffle wouldn't be sacrilege.

BTW- Nice work on the arrivals, I was able to try one out a couple weeks ago. We have some 36 hour YVR overnights in the bid for January. Hopefully I'll score a couple of those trips.

No chance a spare will fit with this baffle. This was not a concern for me and the spare will not clear my brakes....

OT, what arrival did you come in on? I have modified the GRIZZ for noise abatement (long long story) and it will cut 4 miles off the flight and about 60lbs form a B737 fuel burn. It will be published in Feb along with a new published visual from that STAR.....

Anyways, if you want me to drop the spare in there and take a pic, let me know, I will gladly do that to show what panel beating may be required!!

If you get the bid, please call me when you are up here, beers on me, or the company!

I will PM you my numbers.

Cheers

It's difficult to tell by pictures how much room the baffle takes up. Like you said maybe it'll only mean a little modification (sacrificing some efficiency) to fit a spare. I'm not too familiar with the space saver spares but I think they use a foam insert. Maybe a switch to the space saver spare without the foam would work.

We were originally flight planned for the Grizz Two but we were switched to the Paine One when we were still with ZSE. YVR was using 12 due to winds so perhaps that was the reason for the change. It was in the first week of December.

I'll take you up on that, I'd like to hear about your projects. I'm still getting my feet wet with the 911 projects, I think my car will involve most of the stuff discussed here including welding. One of our members down here in Orange County has graciously offered the use of his welders to learn on for the cost of materials. I'm going to do some reading about welding on my trips before trying anything under supervision.

RWY 12, only in the winter!!!! And only rarely then.... Normally we would assign the Grizz for 08 if you were RNAV capable.....

Anyways, I sent a PM with my contact info, give me a shout!

Cheers
