Need to get correct shade of Porsche's Bahia Red
There's been no clear description how Bahia Red looks against the more popular guards red used on Porsches. I have a factory paint swatch of Guards red with me but don't know how to achieve the correct bahia red. All I've read is that its a bit darker, richer perhaps with a more brown tint to it than "guards". Is this correct?
They say from a distance both are almost indistinguishable? Would appreciate any input or help. Thanks, Jay |

even from a mile away you should be able to see the deferents between the two .
i don't know how many time i have stated this . for get about using the name of a color . over the years there are two gaurds rots . there are 6 bahia rots use by porsche . if its the bahia red that i think you are talking about color # 022 used from 1972 to 1973 and the gaurds red your talking about color # 027 used from 1973 to 1987 then the 022 is a much darker or more maroon color than the 027 color . they don't look any thing alike at all . |

Yes its the 022 code that is on the paint plate on my '89 turbo cab. I guess it was a special request color since 022 wasn't offered in the 80's.
Do you know anyone that can furnish me the correct Bahia red swatch or a spray card (not sure what they call it) ? I know Willhoit does this for 356s. Thanks for your help. The guys at the other forum said you would be the person who would know. Jay |

no it's not a special color for 1989 . it would say 99 on the color code if it were .
if you want to check out the color find a glasurit jobber in your area . go down to there store and have them show you the color max solid color chip # CMS 8255A . that is the color chip for #022 color number |

Any idea the code for 1970 Bahia Red, Porsche code 1313 ?
Are swatches also available by contacting the restoration service in Stuttgart? I have an original sales brochure with color swatch pamphlet stapled but the Bahia red looks too faded to brown, and not nearly orange enough. Right next to it the tangerine swatch fared better in a file cabinet for 42 years. Skids |
