The Beginning of another project - 911 SC NB RS

Let's see... ordered the following:

• 911 emblem for dash trim (see previous post)
• Trim plate for door sills to carpet. These are the aluminum trim pieces that go on the door sill and hold the carpet in place... mine were just too tired. Found a set new, in black (aftermarket of course) and could not resist. They will be straight and without bends and scratches. I will get to put all new scratches on those, hehehe
• Several orders for panel clips, bolts, gaskets, stuff that when you look at the used ones you have, just can't install them back...just can't. So new ones must be ordered.
• Ignition switch bezel... yeah...
• Door lock push button and the guide. Guides were fine, but the push buttons were cracking
• Front center-mounted oil cooler and hoses... from our friend Chuck @ Elephant Racing
• All new engine decals and got a cool set of TAG decals that will go on the side of the fenders...
• Turns out that I had only ordered one trim kit for the headlight...both needed the hardware replaced, so one more is on its way...

Now on to ordering a few more parts from our host here... need to order the rotors to have everything needed for the Boxster caliper install... and a few other bits that I have in the project/wish list...

Fixed the spacing of the pins on the gray/black emblem (pulled one pin and used epoxy to install it back in the correct spot)... now to decide on which one to use.



And I will use the black 911 on the duck tail...



And yes, I know, I am just killing time until the few bits get here so that I can continue to install the interior...and the brakes, and the oil cooler, and....

Gasket for the H4 headlight glass came in... at first I could not figure out how it was going to be install... turns out that you just put it around the glass like a rubber band and it takes the correct shape...







And got the kit with the bolts, rubber inserts, and chrome trim to finish the second headlight.

These parts came in: the headlight cover bolts, pins and clips for the hood shocks, plug housing for headlight wires and a few more things...



Took the headlights apart again, painted everything, installed new gaskets on the new lens, new hardware, put it all back together...

Splitter in place. Held right now with just a few bolts... will finish installing the rest of the bolts tomorrow.

Now to tackle the puzzle of installing the carpet set... and it looks, like with every project you buy from someone else, a section of the carpet is missing...the one that goes on the rear shelf... let's see if it shows up in one of the other boxes... right now I am just trying to decipher where each piece goes... and hope that it gets warmer to start gluing stuff in place...

And moving stuff from the house, emptying boxes in the garage... seat, yeah, had to install it just to see how it looked... plus one less thing inside the house.

Pedals installed...



Started working on the driver side door (was waiting on the clips that go into the door panel where the switches go in... those came in yesterday)...and noticed that I could not open the door from the inside... and locking was not possible...

Well the locking I figured out that it was because the door has to be closed to be able to lock it, duh!!... but the opening I ended up pulling the door latch out to inspect...



Turns out that I will need to replace the driver's side... I got it to work, but I noticed that it had a broken bolt in one of the fixed nuts... as soon as I tried to remove the broken bolt, the whole nut came out. So off to ebay on the search for a used one...

hummm... on second thought, I will just weld a new nut in place. The money that a used latch assembly costs can go into so many other parts...

Gave in and ordered the Rennline perforated floorboards... they arrive in a few weeks since the passenger floorboard is on backorder...

I need to remove the dead pedal (put it in place because it is better to drill the holes without the carpet in place)... install the carpet in that area and then install the floorboards. I will tackle that tomorrow after work.

All the decals for the engine and the side TAG decals arrived yesterday. Decals look amazing. I will wait for the the touch up, buffing, and waxing to be done before I install any of those.





Also received the black metal trim to secure the carpet to the door jams.



Oil cooler arrives tomorrow. Brakes (rotors and pads) arrive on the 26...

Nothing is getting done tonight... it is Star Wars: The Force Awakens night!

Got the 911 emblem for the dash insert!. Here is a photo next to the engine lid emblem...

I will have to drill to holes in the aluminum trim for the emblem pins to go through. Now to search for the correct location of this...

And this came in today... father-in-law sent me a photo to share... now to see when I can install it...

I am guessing that I will have to remove the bumper to have plenty of space for the install... will see if I can do it without having to remove it.

Now I need to trim this piece a little bit to make it fit on the glove box lid... I will need some sort of a spacer as well... the fun of making parts fit that do not belong...

...ran out of spray-glue again! And it started to rain... so it was time to check off something from the honey-do list... replaced the laundry sink, installed backsplash, etc... and I am now prohibited from using it to wash my greasy hands... great! :banghead:



Will continue with the car tomorrow... off from work for a few days.

Purely cosmetic, I know, but I love the looks...



Also found this key chain in blue for very little $... came in today. I thought it was going to be some China replica, but it came in the factory Porsche Design box... great quality. So even if it is a replica, it looks amazing...



I also have a proper key blank. Just need to take the key that I have and the blank, to a locksmith to get the key cut. Yes, I know, need to get another blue key chain for the copy



Took the time to secure the tank in place...new hold downs and bolts...



And still on center!! I had that fear of the filler neck moving off-center when bolting down the tank...

I still need to organize the wiring so that I can finish the carpet on top... but the sides and bottom are done.
