Removing anodized color from a Mahle
Maybe someone can recommend a way to remove the color from one of these wheels. I have one spare which was anodized blue and I would like to remove all the color from it back to the magnesium natural color. Would some type of chemical work? Steel wool seems tedius and would not get all the color as the surface is so porous.

I have refinished a few sets of Mahle wheels. I was never able to get the blue off either. Most of the time the wheels needed refinishing anyways. Although it may not be the correct finish, I have always used Wurth Silver with good results.
Good Luck, Don

Caustic Soda - takes it off a treat. Watch your skin (ie wear thick industrial gloves) but you can actually see it working.
I found the oven cleaners in the UK too weak (Consumer protection legislation again!)
