Question about sanding through primer
I am working on my first paint project - it is an old 40s fridge that I am painting Mexico Blue. This was meant to be an experience builder before I paint my car. This is a bare metal paint job. I did my filler work on the bare metal, then I sprayed a coat of epoxy primer, and then I sprayed a high build primer.
While sanding the high build I sanded all the way through to the metal in a few quarter sized spots. Do I need to re-epoxy these spots or is it OK to just spray my next coat of high build? Thanks, Josh |

any bare metal spot bigger than a Quarter you will want to just spot in the area with some E-primer .
some E-primers you can use as a sealer also so all you may have to do is spot in the area and then just top coat . just check to see if you can do that with the E-primer your using . |

Thanks 962 - I was pretty sure that was the answer, I was just feeling a little lazy. I'll post some pics when I get a little farther along. I'll also post some of my paint booth - I went with a negative pressure setup per your recommendations. It has worked well but still has some kinks to work out.
I am starting to understand the pain of getting a surface truly straight and flat. I am also glad that I started on something other than my car because I have had a few epic fails so far. After I finish the fridge I am going to paint a car for one of the nurses in my office for a little more experience. |
