Chrome Window/Windshield Trim

PO painted all the trim black..... Any suggestions in how best to return them to the polished look? Buy all new ones or sand blast'em, or?

Thnx, Dan

Someone did the same to mine. I started removing the paint on some of my trim with citristrip with good results. I was lucky and whoever painted it was lazy and didn't sand the trim first.

Unless i'm wrong and the later years were chrome, my 70 model is anodized alum. Prev owner painted black. I chemically stripped and also removed the anodize and polished them.

Window trim I think you are right is anodized, but the trim on my door looks like chrome.

Put a magnate to it, if it doesn't stick, its alum.

64-68 coupes (unless its a 68 S or L) are chrome plated brass, so the magnet test if not 100%. 69 up is aluminum and when bright, its bright dip anodized. Opening vent windows are brass no matter what.

How can you tell if it is bright dip anodized if the finish is weathered and a bit scratched vs. plain aluminum?
