rotisure build plans & concerns
I posted all of my info & concerns in the post I started asking for spot welder took recommendations...
So, please see that post if u can find it & I dont know how to incorporate it into this thread...dang... Anyway, here goes again... I am looking for plans on how to build a rotisure for a 911...I like more the style that bolts to the fron & rear of the car at the bumper points... However, I am concerned that the car may sag a bit with this style rotisure, so i was wondering is I first made a 4 wheel dolly for tub & attach car to suspension points and then raise dolly w/ car on it to attach all of that to a rotisure...?? Any and all thoughts welcome...also pictures of what has worked for you with any +'s and -'s on your experiences of what u used and what u would change the next time doing the same kind of work... thx in advance for any & all of your help...bob

being a shop owner for well over 35 years I have come to find rotisserie's are 100 % useless !
they are find for a full framed car but never any good for a unibody car . the reason is a unibody car gives you 2.5mm plus / mines of play in tolerance with a total of 5mm . I have help more people over the years to fix there cars after they had there car on a rotisserie . even after they would brace the hell out of the car to pit it on a rotisserie . unibody cars are in no way built to support the chassis by the mounting points of the bumpers . |

you can buy or build your own chassis dolly that the car should sit on were all the suspension mounting points are . by doing so you will know the chassis will be square and straight when your finished doing all the panel replacement work .
because of the cost of a celette and add in the fact that you have to make money with them we don't just pull cars apart and drop them on a bench . we will do so at 1st to make sure the car is straight and square and to do any major panel replacement but that's only because the car make be bent and need a pull . right after we know for sure the car is straight we pull it right off the bench and drop it on a dolly . we have 7 dollies in total 3 are for the 911 chassis cars two are made out of metal and one is made out of wood 4"x4" that was the 1st one we built 30 plus years ago . from the wood framing we built mounts out of metal to bolt the car to . other than the burns all over the wood frame the dolly held up really well . my 1st fear was from the heat to cold and dry to humidity the wood would warp . it never has ! |
