911SC Front Boot Refresh on my back to original restoration
Hi all,
I am undertaking a restoration on my 79 911SC. I do plan on having a professional repaint the car after I have stripped the exterior back to bare metal (with advice from the body shop). What I will do on my own is the underside, front boot and engine bay. The car was delivered in Cashmere Beige. The PO repainted it Black (over original paint). My question to you knowledgeable Pelicans is to do with the boot and engine bay. (see pic). I have removed all black paint (aerosol) from the engine bay with a high pressure cleaner and solvents, I am now attacking the front boot. The Black paint in the front boot is coming off with thinners and time. I have also had the suspension support panels replaced and the sheet metal is in the factory black with seem seal. My question is, how far do I need to scrub, wet and dry, scotch pad etc before I can lay down some 2pac epoxy primer, Wurth SKS (equivalent) and paint. Cheers ![]()
