Rebuilt 912 engine

A 356 I am considering buying comes with the original engine as well as a rebuilt 912 engine with big bore kit and 356 sheet metal on it. Any thoughts on what the 912 engine is worth? I have no other details.

I was thinking around $2000-3000 Canadian.

Thanks,

Derek

A running engine is worth probably 5k USD... assuming it is in good shape. Of course, a rebuild on a core will run you around 5 or 6 thou as well...

So what do you all think an 8000 rpm 912 that puts out a dyno measured 180 HP at 7800 RPM, has Carillo rods, Scat billet crank and Shasta Pistons, fully tricked out heads is worth??

Cores go for about $400 US don't they? A 912 in bad shape with running, reasonable shape engine should be about $2500 US THerefore you should be able to get a running 912 engine for around $1500 to $2000
