58 356s

I'm getting ready to buy a 58 356s with an original sunroof. The car has been sitting for the last 30 years, the car is complete. The car is solid little to no rust. What are these cars worth?

price?

Hi Art
how is the bottom of the car?
is the motor original to the car?
are there any bumpers and over riders?
please post more photos if you
have them.
thanks, Mark

The car has the original floors,i pulled out the interior to expose the floorboards. The floorboards are solid,i poked around the whole car at this point, and it has very minor rust spots.Everything is complete on the car, except for the bumpers, and original steering wheel. The motor is original and complete. What are over riders? This car is a true barn find. The car will potentially run.The owner who is a friend of mind said she last ran it six years ago, turned it off a never started it again. She put about 12,000 miles on it in 30 years. The motor turns freely. It's an original sunroof car. I'll post more pictures when i have more time.

Later,Art

Looks like a good candidate for restoration. Assuming that it has a 1600S engine that is rebuildable (as well as transmission), my guess is worth $20,000 as is. You will probably need to put in another $20,000 for a decent restoration, making the car worth $40,000 on completion.

What a great find !! Do NOT restorate it You`ll take the soul of this car away, when restorating it to Pebble Beach-Standard....Here in Europe it is nearly impossible to find such a great car like yours. Here you get new painted ruins, or you get concours-winner. Between there`s nearly nothing on the market. What the car deserves is that you conservate it as it is. Just remove the rust spots and paint him partially as necessary. Refresh it technically and clean it up, maybe give it a good polish ...

imho.......that`s all this boy needs.

Please keep us informed about the news...
and if you have ...give us some more pics

I agree. Around 20,000 the way it sits. Note the "S" on the back is incorrect and i form a later B. If it were a Super, it would say Super and have a silver fan shround among other things. I also agre with not restoring the car. Do a mechanical restoration adn enjoy it the way it is! Best wishes, Christian

Yeah, your right someone stuck that S emblem on there.I'm learning though, this is my first 356.This takes nothing away from the car.in my opinion. The engine # is P-69555 which makes it standard 1600 from 1958.

Overriders are the chrome bars attached to the bumpers. Good find!

Seriously, what a incrediable catch.
It is always so cool when you find such a car. Regardless of grade it is fantastic.
I always love the way the 356's look when restored and running about, I on ocasion here
in Southern california will catch a lady who owns a red one that appears restored.
I also have seen a gentelman who owned a restored one in a shade of blue he mentioned
it was not a original however, but it was stunning. That particular vehicle was in Northern
California just outside of my home town PaloAlto.

survivor cars rule.

I get more people telling me to just drive the healey like it is, than ones that tell me to restore it.

Did you have fun figuring out brake line routing through its tunnel? What a nice ride (build) you have there!

Regards,
