61 B T5 Shifter Lock, how does it work
Found the keys to the shifter lock in the glovebox, but what gear do I have to be in to make it work, so far I have only managed to get the key to move about a 1/4 inch, does it go round further?
Not that the car goes or anything, but I was kind of hoping that the keys were the ignition but they are not, so would like to know how the shift lock works instead. I have looked it up and can't infd anthing on it, other than it exists and was an accessory for a while then mandatory on all vehicles.

Azzarule-
The B T-5 shifter lock is a rare option and can be used (locked) in any gear. Simply place the car in gear, insert key, push down and turn key. Once done, the shift lever should not move into another gear. All T-6's came with shift locks. They are brass as opposed to the chrome T-5 locks. I believe for T-6 locks to work, the car must be in 1st or reverse. Hope this helps. George San Diego

I believe it locks in the neutral gate or reverse. Look at the grooves in the collar on the shift shaft.
