Question re 356A value
I am about to become the executor of the estate of my cousin, who was killed in a grisly motorcycle accident last week. He had no will. There are multiple heirs.
Among his possessions is a 356A coupe, I believe built in 1955, but a 1956 model. His now deceased uncle bought it new. It is disassembled but pretty much complete, and I believe, but do not know, that it is a numbers matching car with the original engine. About 20 years ago, my cousin had the floor pans, sills, and headlight buckets repaired by a reputable Porsche shop, in Connecticut, I think. He paid something like $8000 for the work 20 years ago, so I assume it was high quality. As executor, I will have to have the car appraised. I'm not a 356 guy (though I've owned 9 Porsches), and don't know where to turn to get a fair, honest appraisal from someone who is an acknowledged expert, but not interested in buying the car. Note I am not offering the car for sale here; I have not even been formally named executor yet. I will be going to the state where it is located next week to look at it and will have a better idea of its condition and numbers matching (or not) status. Can anyone recommend to me such a person? Thanks Terry |

Go to the 356 Registry and ask there. Adam Wright is the guy that might give you the best estimate.

You have, in your territory a great bunch of 356 guys that can give a look and value. YOu can also use the Haggerty valuation tool. find it on line. Good tool, with value based on condition.
Sorry to hear about you reason to sell the car. I ride as well and find it is getting more risky as the technology changes and vehicles getting bigger. Also, you could post some pics Rusty
