1954 356 ID question: why does one have split window, the other doesn't?
I found this picture on the net of some pre-A cars, obviously promotional shot
but why does the car in the background still have a split windshield and the one in the foreground the bent windscreen if they both are 1954's or was the bent a running change, that some '54's still had the split? In Detroit they never show an old model with the new as they are always trying to sell you the new ![]() |

356 change
HistoryBuff--My understanding is the main one in the foreground is 1954
and the one in background with split windshield is before April-May 1952. The other front change was the 54 had a hood handle half inch smaller with small hole,---as can be seen in this photo.----regards Wayne. |

But if it is company PR photo why would they show old model?>
Maybe Porsche was already trying to say "look how we've progressed , but still in America you wouldn't see a '55 Chevy ad saying "and remember the great '53?"

Great shot, thanks for posting.
Sixty years ago it was a much different world, my gut would say "look where we are now" |
