I don't know how to answer your question. As I understand it, forward/reverse bias is a function of alternator design (i.e. stator connection to diode pairs) typically one winding on the stator will be connected to reverse bias diodes. This is not controlled by the regulator.

yeah I got a little turned around when I took the alt. apart. I thought
the diodes were in the sub assembly w/the brushes. Which is the reg. I noticed the diodes after I took out the alt from the housing, thanks for the reply |

does anyone know if the internal type regulator can be jumped into "full field", like the external type??
