saving external thermostat

i have external TSTAT that has two stripped inlets....PP host sells reair kit but absolutely no instruction on how to prep the TS and how to install the new fittings. Can anyone offer some insights please?

These work because its usually the outer 4 threads that strip on a thermostat. These adapters have deeper cut threads so they thread on past the outer stripped threads. Just clean them and carefully thread the adapter onto the thermostat. Tighten. Then install your lines to the thermostat threads.

Make sure there are no nicks/dirt/crud on the taper surface or they will not seal.

I have used them before and they work well.

I ve read where some folks use a steel epoxy where the stripped portion is to strengthen the bind. I only have 3-4 turns remaining .. i would retap those but a 30MM x 16 die is impossible to find

Targalid..thanks, but thats a tap and not a die..i found one from a friend and appear to be moving towards finalization of this project

Thanks...didnt show on Amazon Canada..but i used a large nut, oil and that worked fine to get 4-5 threads to capture the repair nut,,,fingers crossed..i will have a nice T Stat for sale soon
