Differences in SSI models
Hi guys, I have an '83 SC that I am in search of gently used SSIs for. I know for an '83 I would typically use the "thick flange" model.
I noticed SSI makes thick flange exchangers for the '80-'83 3.0 and, under a separate model number, for the '84-'89 3.2. The flange thickness on both models is apparently the same. My question is are these parts interchangeable? Can I use the 3.2 exchangers on my '83 3.0? Thanks in advance! |

I thought I'd read that the pipe diameter is larger for the 3.2 SSI's. THen i also thought that I had read Dansk was no longer making both models.

The insert into the heads would be larger on the carrera boxes.
The C2 boxes are thick flange but no inserts. Bruce |
