Hi Pelicans - I received a number of parts along with a new-to-me decklid for my ‘83SC. Decklid appears to be a ‘79.
What does it do? Does it retain the grill or the decklid condenser? Thanks! ![]() |

Yep. Spare part. I've just looked at my '79 decklid and it doesn't have one.

I'm on the hunt for some info on grill-to-decklid fasteners. If you get a chance, can you send a closeup pic of your decklid and grill? TIA!

It's held on with six small bolts (studs) that are part of the grill, then are held on with nulock nuts. The optional rear window wiper hole has a rubber plug in it.
This car has never had a condenser, but came out of the factory with the big rubber whale tail thing that was the optional SC Sport package for 1979. So this grill has been retrofitted at some time. |

yes. in fact I was at a local shop today and they were installing an AC system on a longhood of some rich silicon valley guy and the installer was determining if those very mounts were required. they were not...

It doesn't retain either, but rather blocks airflow going around the condenser.
