I would be a bit concerned by a shop that just replaces parts and hopes for the best.
Check the Ref and Speed Sensor. Ask your friend if you can place your DME into his car to insure it is not faulty, i.e. broken solder joints. Break a Leg,

+1 and Welcome to the forum.
If you used a resistor and it started, that tells us the harness continuity seems to be ok, however, I am not sure where you placed the resistor the second time (after install of new CHT). Not sure you had to buzz plug to ECU itself (unless ECU was disconnected), but the sensor resistance sounds like a sane number. Ambient temp range is something like 1.4K to 3.6K. (85 to 60F from Bentley) 2000 rpm is a bit hi, acting as if idle sw isn't on, sb ~1200 then settle to ~800. That makes me wonder what else might be going on. Not sure I trust your mech either for his T/S skills.

You should have the shop pay you back for the new fuel pump and new CHT! All of our fuel pumps look old!!! You test them!!
