shock strut rocking

Just changed my front wheel bearing because i thought the where worn out, when grabing the tire 12 and 6 a'clock i could hear and feel a rocking. But it diddent help
Found out that the rocking came frome the shock. The shock that goes into the strut is moving when i grab the wheel 6 and 12 o'clock ( see picture)
Is looks like the shock goes through a rubber gasket before i goes further in to the strut.
Is it normal to have this play or do i need to replace a part?

Is that a bilstien HD insert? Going into which housing?

There is a fix but we need a bit more information.

in addition to the rubber seal there is a bushing in there, if it's worn out if can cause the rocking you're describing, it should be replaced

I'd start with Ira at Tarett.

I got the same issue with new b6's in bilstien struts.

The bushing and seal top are items that Bilstein can sell you separately. We have purchased them in the past, but unfortunately it was so many years ago, I can't help you with part numbers. You need to contact Bilstein technical service department for assistance

good luck
