What does the flat6illumination adapter look like?

Hi, I bought flat6illumination lights for my ROW ‘85 and they don’t seem to be plug and play... the connectors don’t match. The flat6illumination website is useless for information so I’m left guessing what adapter I’m missing.

This is the current bucket wiring ...

I can’t get a hold of Francois to ask questions and hope someone here can show me what adapter I need? Thinking it was just an interface issue so I went out and grabbed some connectors and fabricated some wires to get it running in the mean time but am not sure if this is advisable...

I’ve got blue going to blue, brown to brown, and yellow/green to white.... hi-beams don’t work but low beams do so I’m not sure this is just an adapter/interfacing issue between the new LEDs and the OEM wiring in the bucket.

I’m thinking for now just roll with low beams only until Francois can advise/ship the correct adaptor but would appreciate any advise or even a photo of the adaptor from someone who has the same original wiring like mine.

Cheers

Mine fit right into the blue thing. It did, however, take a lot of fiddling and multiple attempts to get the spades to line up and for it to slot right in.

Ok thanks for the quick replies... it sounds then like my jimmy-rigged cables should do the trick until the proper h4/h5 adapter arrives.

About the high beam low beam issue... should there be a noticeable difference? I heard another fella saying high beam is so close to low beam it’s almost like it’s not there (but low beam was strong enough he didn’t mind).

Anyone else experience very little difference between high/low beams with Francois’ led’s?

Yea something’s not right... I put them in and drove home through dusk, could barely tell they were on. If the h4/h5 adapter is just to get from one form factor to another there’s certainly another issue. Hopefully not tho and it’s just my wiring.

Flick to high beam and they go off altogether even though there’s voltage at the high beam terminal in the bucket (I had high beams before so likely not vehicle wiring). Let’s see what Francois says... I’d like to have a wiring diagram for these things.

I'm curious why you'd need an H5 to H4 adapter. These lights are going on your '85? You should already have an H4 plug from the factory. The H5s didn't start until 1987. You had sugar scoops originally, yes?

Yessir, sugar scoops were replaced... and you are correct I have h4 plugs on the car. On my initial contact with Francois asked if he had “LED H4's to replace OEM sugar scoops on a 1985 911?”. Response: “Yes you can use these headlights to replace your sugar scoop.” I didn’t specify beyond the initial question but mentioning OEM may have led him to assume H5. I assumed H4. How does that stupid staying go? =]

This was his response just now...

“Based on the picture you sent you have H4 connectors on your car unstead of the H5 model installed on your new headlights as per your order. Normally a North American Porsche 85 has H5 connectors.” Adaptors on the way.

Well, the project continues... on the bright side the guards red spray bomb on the trim rings was an exact match and smooth as glass. However even after 24 hrs and being quite dry to the touch just pressing down to get the 6pm fastening bolt in left palm prints on the top of the ring. Doh!

They do look pretty sweet, not sad to retire the sugar scoops. I think I’ll try out the black reflector and shrouds when taken apart for the adaptors next week.

Francois should have known better, especially when you're replacing sugar scoops (automatically H4 lights) and it's an '85 when H5s didn't start until later.

Oh, well. I hate using adapters, but they'll work.

Glad you got it sorted out.
