CIS removal questions and help please
Well I've removed all the nuts to the runners and things are somewhat free.
The passenger side is the most loose. The drivers side is a little fidgety. I plan to add a wee bit of grease to all the bolts to the runners to aid in the extranction process. 1.) Is adding a little grease here okay? White lithium is my plan. 2.) There are a couple of electrical connections at the rear of the airbox/CIS per the attached. Do both of these need to be removed to remove the CSI system. Here ... ![]() and here are the connections remaining. Oops likely same connection with different angle. There are two connections though. Disconnect I will ... ![]() 3.) The WUR still adds weight to the CIS removal. All the lines are disconnected except the one which runs fuel to the center of the fuel distributor. Can I/Should I remove the line and if so should I remove it off the WUR side? Disconnect at the green or leave it alone? ![]() 4.) Is there a trick to prying the runners/airbox off? 5.) Do the aluminum tubes shown in figure below (in the red oval) come out with the CIS?

Yes this is a removal taking the airbox off the runners. But the photo does answer some of my questions. I'm a little different. |

Is your engine out or in the car?

Well the CIS is now out of the engine compartment.
There was a bolt clamping the fuel injector lines to the back of the airbox and then down to the plate with the throttle linkage. This made the runners of the driver side difficult to move because the box was secure. So far the only casualty is the loss of the spring which ran from runner number two to the throttle bracket. How hard can it be to find it? Obligatory photos follow: ![]() ![]() Location of the bolt which secured the airbox to the plate and was not easily found.
