Moving my shop
 

After being in business since 1980, and being 70yo, I'm closing my Greenwood Ave shop at the end of September and moving it to Marysville Wa. Been living there for a year. Hopefully I'll be out by the end of October. I have 5 acres up there with a pretty decent shop on the property, so hopefully a few of my customers/friends will make the trip. Just 32 miles/half hour in normal traffic. Still an official tax paying business, but the overhead is a fraction of what I've been paying in Seattle. Hate to leave, but it's time.

Good for you, John Walker. You have been a constant source of expert advise and experienced solutions to our problems over the years. I trust this move will let you throttle back on your daily efforts, while leaving some time to spend with us here.

I’m sure you’ll have no lack of folks still wanting your expertise. A 30 minutes drive is nothing (and enjoyable) in a Porsche to get proper service. Wishing you a great ‘retirement’ in good health!

That's only 3063.6 miles and 44 hours 56 minutes from here. Can you pencil me in for a tune up?

Gotta cut it back a bit so I can get a few of my unfinished projects farther along, maybe 2 to 3 cars a week. Can't retire completely or I'll get fat and die. Looking forward to it, another challenge. Be nice to have some time to do Rennsport, Hot August Nights and stuff like that.

Let me know when you're going to put all those spare Porsche parts on the curb you don't want to pack up... :)

Sounds like a nice retirement. I agree with the keeping busy part - it is a must.

People will make the extra drive no problem. Smart move. It will take some of the stress off. Glad to see you're not hanging it up and just moving. The great thing about moves is that it usually opens doors that you never saw before and that's a positive thing. Hopefully it still means you're going to hang around here still and not move on from us.

A master mechanic is worth the drive.

The above post is true....there can be a lot yak yak stuff on line that someone who does it everyday can provide a more direct answer.

For those who don’t know John, he truly represents the best of what this hobby is all about. I feel blessed to consider him a friend and client, I will gladly make the drive!

I had to look your new place up. North of Snohomish? I hope you won’t mind a drop-in visitor if I can get up that way while on a business trip.
