Tank to Pump Fuel line

Hi all!

Need a little help. My recently acquired 77 911 Targa came without a fuel pump, or the hose to attach it to the tank. I have acquired a new pump, but I can't seem to find, anywhere, the right hose / line that runs from the fuel pump to the fuel tank.

The rest of the rubber lines need to be replaced as well, but one thing at a time is all my little mind can handle.

Any recommendations here? Where to buy this part, or how to make it?

Fuel tank to fuel pump hose.........

Measure the OD of the tube coming out from your fuel tank and the inlet tube of the FP. These OD’s will determine the size of the fuel hose you will need. Approximately 4” long is more than sufficient and has high resistant to gasoline. This particular fuel line is an inlet and not subjected to high fuel pressure. What FP do you have now?

Never heard of that fuel pump before but as far as fuel lines BoxsterGT made my fuel lines from tank back and can easily make that line for you. You can find lots of post about his fuel lines and great quality. His PM box is full so try emailing him at len.cummings @ verizon . net

You may want to check that your aftermarket pump specs match that of the oem. Your pump flow rates are listed above and inlet/outlet sizes. Your car Bosch part number is Bosch 0 580 254 984 or Bosch 69513 both are the same.

Also here is the Bosch Catalog for reference. Your car is on page 10

Hope this helps

On my 85 Carrera is is 12.5 mm which is just under a 1/2 inch. A 1/2 inch hose is not a tight fit. Len is a good source for the hoses. Just be real sure the fuel line that goes from the pump up over the steering rack and all the way through the tunnel to the nose of the transmission is solid. And the return line next to it. It is a big pain in the butt to replace with the engine and transmission in place. It can be done as witnessed by many threads on this site. I did it recently and it was not fun at all.

Thank you. To be honest, this fuel line replacement job has been daunting. I would REALLY prefer not to do it, but it seems pretty necessary.

Pump is (should be) up front in this one. Right behind fuel tank.

This is what I used from our host. Fits standard tank and pump perfectly. 999-181-168-50-OEM

Len is a great source for the special hoses through the tunnel. Some of them in the engine compartment are NLA from Porsche.

He will include a coupling that lets you connect your new hoses to the rear of the old ones, one at a time. Then you pull out the old one through the front, and it pulls the new one into place behind it.

It's still tricky, and I think it will be easier with a helper. You might have to drop the transmission cross-member and support the tranny with a jack.

Here are some threads with tips:
Okay- so I am going to replace my main tunnel fuel lines tomorrow. Any suggestions?

I really didn't want to do my fuel lines either but it was needed for my application and was really not that bad with the motor out. I had more problems with the fuel line grommets then feeding the lines. I am so glad I did this and don't have to worry about my hard work going up in flames from old fuel lines. Here is a link to help out if you decide to replace them all. This stuff tends to get out of hand but as long as your enjoying the process it is very rewarding.

I appreciate all the guidance here, guys! Theres no doubt all of the fuel hoses in my 77 need to be replaced. And for my personal circumstances... This is not an optional project in my case. Will be placing an order for at least the tunnel lines forward shortly.
