I’m not says no you can’t convert a 923 to actuate like a 915. I am a KISS, guy. Keep it simple stupid. If I can put a 911 engine in the car and change NOTHING but the engine, that’s what I’m going to do. A 1977 was a 2.7. If it were my car I would find one and install it.

If 3.0 or 3.2 is your end goal, find a 915 gearbox and install it at the same time. A 923 gearbox is worth $500+/- more than a same or similar year 915. Makes no sense to me to chase all these clutch flywheel bearing work arounds. Again, back to kiss.

Matt,

I'm with your same thinking. I want to keep it as simple as possible.

I'm asking these questions so that I will know if I need to source a different trans.

Sounds to me like it should work without needing to do anything special.

Yep. I personally like how a 2.7 revs. And the 923 has a 7:31 like a 74 had. In my eyes it makes for a nice little middie.

Matt keeping in line with the KISS method, wouldn't a 3.0 bolt the same as a 2.7?

Yes. Pressure plates and flywheel have the same cross section having nothing to do with
Crank bolt count
