Speedometer / Odometer - One problem or two?
About a week ago my speedo needle started dropping to zero for a few moments, then returning to current speed. Operation was smooth, just would occasionaly go flat.
Then today, the odometer quit incrementing a few tenths after rolling over 999. After reading quite a few threads and tech articles, it sounds like the odometer might be the stripped gear problem. I am not totally familiar with how the speedo works, are these two issues possible related, or is this two separate issues? Thanks

Is the speedo still working? If so the odo failure is likely a stripped gear.

Speedo works, but intermittently stops for a few seconds.
Odo is not working at all, so it seems like the likely cause is gears. Is there a likely cause for the intermittent speedo? Last edited by Quasimoto; 10-12-2018 at 12:34 AM.. |

It might well be the speedo sensor, or a bad connection.
Mine started acting "wonky" and I looked for connections. The connector in the back of the tunnel had one wire that was just hardly touching. I simply pushed it together and all is well. I love free fixes.
