Looks good to me, Wayne!

Would we all need to re-register as members for the board?

I prefer UBB. They have a newer version which has proven very stable over at TDIclub.com.

I think thats what they use at www.i-club.com but I don't think that board is as active as this one.

vBulletin looks good to me. There's some great features on the one here: http://www.bmwm5.com/vbulletin/index.php
Many, many enhanced features which seem to works well - but I notice the above example does go down sometimes.

Would you be able to transfer the all-important archives?

Looks good wayne. Sign me up for a donation; if you need $ to swing the software, I'm sure most of us will be in to do our parts. Not a major difference in appearance and functionality, but if it can handle a larger datahouse maybe it's the way to go.

There is an extremely busy firearms/hunting related BBS that uses vBulletin. The most active board has over 198000 messages in 17280 topics, and opens just as fast as the smallest with only 200 messages. It appears to be pretty robust. Look and feel is nearly the same as UBB. Check out:

A preview post option would be nice.

I find it hard to read my posts in their windows and I have seen other boards that allow you to see how the post will look once posted.

This way you can easily edit the post prior to it being posted which could possibly save you some time or resources.

I think its a newer version of this UBB.

opps its http://vbulletin.com/

nicer to use for me personally.

vBulletin has scripts to migrate usernames, archives, entire forums, even graphics. It basically asks you for the location of the forum you'd want to migrate, and a few moments later you have a carbon copy in vBulletin.

(That's exaggerating a little - there are *some* things you have to do manually.)

The sweet thing about vBulletin is that it looks almost exactly like Infopop/UBB.

Craziness. I dunno....I guess it's alright, although I am having problems getting to the board using Netscape 4.7.

It looks just like www.glocktalk.com

If it works the same way as the above you need to re-login all the time when posting. Annoying in my opinion. Another annoying detail is the way it handles smilies. (You can't always place them as you like). Otherwise this system is fine.
