911SC wiring question

Hello, pulled front bumper off my 79' SC and discovered soldered wires that were connected to the front turn signal/side marker light housings. The attached pic shows the soldered wires..I know this can't be factory, can anyone tell me what kind of connector would have been used in this location, or provide a pic..? Thank you

Spade connector inside clear plastic. Porsche calls them cable connectors.

IIRC the connectors are actually up in the headlight housing. you need to pull the headlight and then disconnect the wires in the headlight bucket. I speculate that someone removed that turn signal assembly and just cut the wires where they were exposed instead of accessing the actual connectors. Then on install they soldered them back since there wasn't a connector there in the first place. I would redo those solder joints with good heat shrink to protect them and make sure the joint is sealed from moisture intrusion.

How has that not caused a short or two or twenty?

Okay, suspect you unwrapped electrical tape

Thank you for the responses...the wires were wrapped in electrical tape..this is the first time I've had the bumper off in my 13 year ownership..BTW both L & R sides were the same...new pic shows the right side headlight bucket with headlight removed. The turn signal and side indicator light connectors are present as well as the rubber boots inside of the bucket to keep water out. I don't think those two connectors would fit thru the hole in bucket even if boot wasn't there. I'll try to find me some connectors with pins like Dpmulvan shows, 6 of them. PO installed H4's..what is the purpose of the small bayonet light bulb mount that plugs into the backside of the headlight assembly...? There are no small bayonet style bulbs in either of my headlights..is this some sort of european running light thing with only parking lights on?

to get the connectors through the headlight bucket, you need to de-pin the spade connector from the plastic connector housing. there is a small retaining tab on the middle of the spade connector that holds it in. you need to depress the tab and pull the connector out. you can then pass the bare connectors through the hole in the bucket. then once you are done with reassembly you insert the spade connectors back into the plastic housing.
