Dansk purchased SSI, these are pretty much exact copies of the early '70s style, true header w/ heat design

This design is very different from what came oe on the '75 unless it''s a true Carrra RS w/ MFI

If you are changing from the usual '75 style to the earlier header design you will also need a muffler and 2 oil lines

its just a regular 2.7. Only looking for something that has the original appearance etc to the factory set up - thermals.

Most owners would want to get rid of the thermal exhaust

Is this what you have?

I have the original 75 exchangers, egr filter, smog pump, brackets, thermals all in great to poor condition. Also the egr valve and bracket. My 75 California 911s is the same engine as the Carrera for that year. Check my for sale ads in my post history you can view it all there.

Why anyone would keep all the smog crap and bake their engine is beyond me. Put it together like it’s a 74. HEs and a muffler.

I thought the same thing when I first saw this. Two possibilities come to mind:
1.) Concours restoration (even if it is a mid-year)
2.) States emission laws require stock exhaust

Do any states still test a 75? CA doesn’t. CO and states who mirror CA don’t. Is there anywhere east that is stricter?

A concours resto would make sense but then you’re looking for NOS or like new takeoffs. Also I bet a lot of concours judges would not know that 74 and 75 were different.

I thought through both points before I made my comment.

I agree with Matt, a cooked engine trumps originality. A set of Dansk SSI’s and rear factory muffler will wake it up and take loads of heat off the delicate parts.

i agree with both of matt's points above regarding emissions and effective motor health with the actual TR 75 exhaust. i would expect any concurs judge would recognize the short comings of the original exhaust and not ding you too terribly for a set of heat exchangers like ssi's.

maybe look for an original set that's clean enough to look good, but not look brand new. ssi's get some color to the collector and other exposed portions of the actual header that would aid in a "period correct" look. look in the classifieds for a set. it may take a while so if you are in a hurry i guess im no help.

with the nature of the SSI's it would remain consistent with the TR two out look allowing a dansk banana 2in/1out s original. no matter how you slice it a 75 being smog exempt in CA & CO who are the strictest agencies it seems counterproductive to install thermal reactors even if NOS.

happy new year

It was posted on this board at different times that SSI are deemed acceptable even at a concourse level

I couldn’t find the threads but does anyone remember that or have any insight?
