Engine Serial # Confusion

Hi Everyone!
Hopefully you can clear up my confusion. I'm getting back into the 911 world and considering a family friend's 911E. I've been collecting information as the previous owner sadly passed away so precise details on the car are lacking. I recently received the following information (below) regarding the engine SN, etc. and am a bit confused. I expected the engine SN to begin with '621' to indicate an E model engine. I thought '611' would indicate a T model engine however the VIN does indicate a E model.

I know its not unheard of for mistakes to have been made way back when the documentation was created so wondering if anyone may have insight. Very much appreciate the info!

9111200815
911 E Coupe 2,2 L Modell 1971
Prod Nr. 1210885
Engine Nr. 6114965
sold to USA in 16 Okt 1970

Thanks,
Dave

Don't know the specific answer, but any chance that the engine has been replaced at some point in it's life? ( I've had three early 911s years ago that all have had engine replacements at some point before I obtained them.

Appreciate the replies, the info that I share above is not what I've gathered from the car itself but what I got as part of a 'Kardex' request. The engine is currently with a shop for pending rebuild so I will call them tomorrow to ask about the specific engine details. My understanding was this info came from Porsche so that was my confusion. I was planning to use the engine SN to verify numbers matching or not which would play into my offer on the car.

Spoke with the man himself, Mr. Pateman. Seems the number is a bit strange and he is going to dig into it for me!

I think my source screwed up on this. Even the production # is wrong; that is for a Karmann body, and could only be for a Karmann 911T, and not an E at all. Still waiting for a response.
