Markings under dash

I am restoring a 1971 911E and I was wondering if anyone knows what the dash markings mean or can tell me what these are? See picture....

Thanks,

Jeff

Would you call the first three numbers a "1" or a "7"?

Probably a "1", a "7" would most likely have a short horizontal line thru the long leg.

That is a production # and should match the # stamped into the lower dash frame below the radio & hidden by the kneepad. These #'s are useful for my research if the VIN is also provided.
First digit 1 = production body
Second digit 1 = Targa version
Third digit 1 = 1971
the rest is a serial #
