Window switch correct positions?

When I got my car the power window harness was cut up. I have it all replaced and working now but realized I do not know the correct positions for the two switches on the drivers door.

Pass switch in front, driver switch in rear?

or

Driver front, pass rear?

FWIW, on my '88 Targa, it's driver's switch rear, passenger switch front.

Great, passenger switch in the front. Thats what makes sense to me.

I vaguely remembered something about this in the factory workshop manual. Just looked and was able to find it again... They say passenger switch to the rear?? Odd.

It makes sense (the german way) that the drivers window switch is closest to the driver. Passenger switch away cause who cares ! Its all about the driver !
That thing above is simply incorrect. Of course, its just two switches so if you got long arms maybe farther away makes more sense to you.

Well, I guess it all depends on how you look at it. When counting, you count left to right, so the one on the left would be number 1, or the first one, the one in front, the one on the right would be number 2, the one behind number 1, or the rear one. Or maybe not.
