Rebuilding pedal cluster...whats the right color/gloss?
I've got all the parts sandblasted, and got myself a powdercoating oven setup..and went to get my powdercoating stuff out and ....no black. I guess I ran out.
So the brackets and pedals look to be the same color...black. And I assume they were a not flat, not gloss somewhere in between level of gloss. (hard to tell, they've been mucked with or rusting for 45 years lol.) Can anyone recommend a specific color/gloss form a specific powdercoat retailer? I've used Columbia Coatings in the past and Tiger Drylak paints. But I'm open to whatever is right for the job. Also, I have some powders that have never been opened, in sealed bags that have been stored in temps that range from 45 to 95...10 years old. Toss them? Or are they ok if they are still powdery and not clumping?

I’m no expert but I think you’re right. Pretty sure they’re satin. So, yah between flat and gloss. No clue on the shelf life of the powder.

Last few I have worked on the base was gloss and the pedals were flat to satinish

Definitely satin. While not a powder coat. I was always under the impression SEM rustshiled was a dead on match for the satin black Porsche used.

Cool, thanks guys...it's far from concourse quality. But I'd like it to be appropriate. If the satin/sheen is off by 10% its not the end of the world as most of it is under the floorboards. I *do* want it to not flake or chip or rust though, and since they are down there in the sand and grit, I thought a powdercoat finish was a good solution
