85 Cabriolet - Window not secure in lifter rail
My passenger window glass has come detatched from the window lifter rail hence when I go to put the window down the window lifter goes down and the window stays up. I have to push the window down with my hand to get it back down into the rail.
Can anyone advise me on the correct way to re-seat the glass into the rail - epoxy? if so, what is the recommended brand? Am at a loss as to how it is properly done. I believe there is a piece of thin rubber that secures the glass into the rail - maybe just clean the glass and rubber real good and pinch the rail sides in so that it grabs the glass better? Am open for ideas but prefer the proper fix!! Thanks! |

Hi..it all depend how old is your rail.Have you done some work inside the door lately. The window has to sit in the rail holding in by rubber strip..Do do it right you need to remove the rail and see if it is not rusty or why are you having this problem

I just took my targa doors apart. I had to pry the glass from the bottom frame. There is a rubber channel between the glass and the frame channel. My metal frame was rusted up. Maybe your metal frame has rusted through and let go the glass.
