911 & Bohemia
Ivan, I enjoyed reading your trips and seeing the videos...thanks for making it so real...
You have an amazing car and obviously you maintain it well and an expert Porsche owner. I have a 1987 Carrera that I maintain and nuts about for the last 23 years...but I am quite surprised and to some extent disappointed that our 84-89 Carreras get very little press including the PCA. There is no doubt in my mind that this particular range of Porsches are the most reliable, fun to drive and longest held by its owners then all other models...(very few available for sale) These are the ones that are fairly easy to maintain and improve with kits or parts that were developed by other 84-89 owners. I just do not understand why??? |
Hi David that is absolutely correct they are the workhorse of the 911...i love the 993 almost got one back in 1998 for 25 K or trade mine plus 5 K, but my hockey gear did not fit in it and for LA driving it was a little too much of a car for me - I don`t believe i park mine for so many years on the street ;-)
There are some for sale but what i see the owners had like for 2-3 years so not really attached to them as you and me,for example;-)It is till is is funny to call them classic but they already are;-)) Also it is true, any i sit in it a go for drive i love it;-) never mind the radio;-))))) I think so too, very uncomplicated 911 to work on or repair it`s little things..if you lube it will run;-) I did one complete engine 911 Carrera, for a guy in England while i lived in south France and he is in love again, with it and selling his 993...He is using 1/3 of a quart per 1000 miles so he is a happy camper....that guy is crazy driver once i finish the engine i told him he needs to do 1000 miles before i can do recheck on the engine ..he did it in 2 days;-)))I was not comfy to drive or brake in the engine since it was RHD 911. Ivan this one set the speed to higher or HD https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c_7I3hDiAv8 |
Today, my dog (German Shepherd) Emma said she needs some German food and my cat Zeppelin also pinched in a request for fresh sand from our neighbors..So big reason to start the German beast and go for it.last week i had my front wheels balanced-it came out so nice.It is a pleasure to drive 911 without the front jerk in steering wheel...
So i killed 3 flies in one shut today;-) On video you can hear ugly sound how the sand(cat litter) was shifting in the curves -tried to correct while driving.i got home and everybody was happy Emma and Zeppelin too.;-) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CP847COWL60 http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1598040250.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1598040250.JPG Little video from the drive..it was a lovely day --again hard to do 6k RPM..in those roads After spirited (138 Miles) drive i did get some sweet sauce 100K octane Ivan http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1598042670.jpg |
Well? this is a stupid(2 more moth and it is a goner) year many of us did not put enough miles on ours 911.I tried but then we had the stupid corona ....i did maybe the last of the year drive today, in my hometown of Karlovy Vary, Bohemia..i hope not but the sun will be gone for a long time;-)
here it is, a little fall drive..to view the video choose 720 quality https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0bYKLfJzb3A |
Enjoyed the video, nice scenery!

When I'm very old and drooling in a nursing/old-folks-storage home, if someone could just keep videos like this running in a loop, i'll be OK.
Be well, John |

We have the same weather. I was out in the Targa yesterday. And the day before. And...
Spring is wonderful when it's not raining sideways. |
Took my beast out again today ..it was raining ..so went to lift the car at my friends shop about 45K since i reseal the engine back in 2009 and guess what not sigle drip or moist anywhere...so,911 engines do not leak oil...period;-)
