SC Rubber Tail, Quality Question

I have been looking around at different tails lately. I'm new to the tail market (for the car...). Had no interest until I realized that I really like the older Carrera Tail design. It's amazing how minor design differences on these cars make a difference, or at least provide some individual personallity.

Just came across the SC tail on E-bay and like the looks of it:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=6769&item=2406179258&rd=1

What's the take on the rubber SC tails. I like the looks, but I'm not sure how well they hold up or what to look for.

-Do they have a tendency to warp
-Does the rubber discolor
-Are the mounts solid
-What's the ballpark price for a good one

Pictures of one installed would be great as well, I have only seen it off of the car (come on SCWDP members, I know a few of you have one you want to show).

Thanks, Gordo

They won't warp, they do have a tendency to get nasty if they've been in the sun all the time, they bolt to the lid like all the others, it's easy to tell if its been taken care of if you see it in person might not be so easy to tell from a pic, ask for some high res shots of the sunny side if you persue it. Price as w/ anything else is up to you, they are not common but not really rare either. Lots of people like them because there is no paint work involved.

Care consists of the same type of products that you use for the other external rubber pieces.

If that is the all-rubber tail that Porsche made for a few years then it is REALLY heavy--and all in the wrong place. Unless you love the look of it, I would keep searching. As with all rubber, these tails tend to lose their shine over time and also to sort of break down so that you start to see the individual "bubbles" that make up the rubber composition.

I just took a careful look at the low resolution pictures from the auction, and that tail looks pretty rough. You know that if they're describing it as in fair condition it probably wouldn't be something that you would want to put on your car.

If it is cracked then the rubber itself has probably started to break down. When these things start to go they really look mangy.
