Jacking points

Every time i jack up my 911 3.2 on a two post ramp on the four points under the car it always takes the under seal off,I have four rubber blocks with a slot in them so the pinch welds go in them and not bend them up.

HOW DO YOU JACK CAR UP WITHOUT DAMAGING THE UNDER NEATH.

porschedavid 03-04-2019 03:07 AM

Anyone

OldSpool87 03-04-2019 03:15 AM

Maybe try a different brand jack pad? Parchment paper?

Is the undercoating adhering to he jack pad or cracking and falling off?

Uwon 03-04-2019 03:42 AM

There are 10mm (check size) threaded holes at each corner of the belly pan, just next to the pinch welds. Get yourself four hockey pucks, drill out the centre, including a recess for the bolt head and screw them in. As I recall, on one corner I also had to saw a slit on the puck as the threaded hole is too close to the pinch weld.

Some pics of mine in this thread:

Johan is correct in that they are 10mm bolts. I had to bevel the edges that sit against the body at the rear.

porschedavid 03-04-2019 04:50 AM

Hi
I don't have these 10mm holes on my car

Jonny042 03-04-2019 04:58 AM

Later 3.2's had jacking points welded to the body but if your car had those you probably wouldn't be asking the question. Guessing you have an early 86 or older.

Your car has the holes, they are covered/filled with plastic plugs. Look carefully in the locations pictured in the other thread and you'll find them.

porschedavid 03-04-2019 04:59 AM

Mines a 1983 3.2 one of the first

Do I need to use Montreal Canadian pucks?

porschenut 03-04-2019 05:30 AM

You're in Ontario so you'd use Leafs pucks.

Canadiens. Or just call them Habs.

they still do exist in the parts list and you can order These to weld them to the car.

I thaught about it many times to do it...

7783911 03-04-2019 06:33 AM

I need to order these parts, as I'm missing one... do you know what the part # is?

GH85Carrera 03-04-2019 08:10 AM

It is one of the many little annoying design "flaws" that the earlier Carreras did not have a jack pad anywhere. I have a scissor lift. I use it for a lot of tasks that don't really require a lift, but having the car up higher and not bending over is a lot easier on my back. Even a task like waxing the car is a lot easier when the bottom of the door is at a comfortable height when seated on a roll around chari.

Anyway, I use the slotted pad on the pinch welds up front. It is a slow process to get the lift pad of the scissor jack up close to the seams, but it is fairly easy after many time of doing it. In the rear, there is a flat area under the torsion bar that is perfect for a standard hockey puck to fit.

I have thought of having a lift point tack welded on to make it faster to lift the car.

Could these be the parts shown as #25 on the illustration? 999 103 125 shows as 4 used on the car. 40http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1551754924.jpg

I agree with Jonny as both my ‘86 nd ‘78 have the threaded holes.

These are just the plugs to fill the bores/thread.

porschedavid 03-05-2019 06:16 AM

that's the plan, ready to bolt on.
Maybe even with the needed nut in case some cars dont have it, so you can Weld it in.

will keep my instagram updated

tmadden2 03-05-2019 10:31 AM

Following. I’m interested to know more about these jack pads as they develop.

walt 03-05-2019 12:49 PM

Maybe consider making these from Delrin or similar. Very tough material and no post finish required.

7783911 03-07-2019 11:15 AM

can some one tell me the bolt size/thread for these mounts?

thanks

Bob

7783911 03-07-2019 12:36 PM

I have an 86 911 and I cant seem to locate these 10mm threaded holes.
Can anyone give me some guidance ?

Thank you
Bill

7783911 03-13-2019 03:51 AM

wds, advice given me was lift carpet and you should see the capture nuts...

wds1429 03-13-2019 12:35 PM

Thank you , I will follow that advice...

chrismorse 03-19-2019 07:19 PM

My 74 seems to have weep holes not threaded bosses

Are there threaded bungs, or inserts that can be welded in to fit these slick lifting pucks, a molly anchor seems kinda light in its absence??
Chris

Chris

Why not use a nut. It’s all covered by loose carpet in the corners.

What do you think the odds are that those threaded holes are a carry-over from attachment points to this kind of overhead crane system on the early 911s?

Hockey puck jack points

A few minutes with a Drill press and a Forstner bit and you can fabricate your own. You may find at AC lines may interfere with the attachment points however.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1571015314.jpg

gduke2010 10-13-2019 05:15 PM

I bought the Esco jack stands from Pelican Parts with the round rubber tops. Quality stands and I bought a pair of axel posts which I use under the solid torsion bar or torsion bar covers. I glued rubber on the posts with contact cement.

Like to put the stands under the torsion bars or torsion bar covers. I have a cabriolet and the door reveal doesn’t change much while on stands .

gduke2010 10-13-2019 05:17 PM

Btw, haven’t seen the screw holes at the jack points. Have a 1985.

I'm not quite sure but I believe these fixture to vanish around early 3.2s

just drill yours.
