Jacking points

Every time i jack up my 911 3.2 on a two post ramp on the four points under the car it always takes the under seal off,I have four rubber blocks with a slot in them so the pinch welds go in them and not bend them up.

HOW DO YOU JACK CAR UP WITHOUT DAMAGING THE UNDER NEATH.

Maybe try a different brand jack pad? Parchment paper?

Is the undercoating adhering to he jack pad or cracking and falling off?

There are 10mm (check size) threaded holes at each corner of the belly pan, just next to the pinch welds. Get yourself four hockey pucks, drill out the centre, including a recess for the bolt head and screw them in. As I recall, on one corner I also had to saw a slit on the puck as the threaded hole is too close to the pinch weld.

Johan is correct in that they are 10mm bolts. I had to bevel the edges that sit against the body at the rear.

Later 3.2's had jacking points welded to the body but if your car had those you probably wouldn't be asking the question. Guessing you have an early 86 or older.

Your car has the holes, they are covered/filled with plastic plugs. Look carefully in the locations pictured in the other thread and you'll find them.

You're in Ontario so you'd use Leafs pucks.

they still do exist in the parts list and you can order These to weld them to the car.

It is one of the many little annoying design "flaws" that the earlier Carreras did not have a jack pad anywhere. I have a scissor lift. I use it for a lot of tasks that don't really require a lift, but having the car up higher and not bending over is a lot easier on my back. Even a task like waxing the car is a lot easier when the bottom of the door is at a comfortable height when seated on a roll around chari.

Anyway, I use the slotted pad on the pinch welds up front. It is a slow process to get the lift pad of the scissor jack up close to the seams, but it is fairly easy after many time of doing it. In the rear, there is a flat area under the torsion bar that is perfect for a standard hockey puck to fit.

I have thought of having a lift point tack welded on to make it faster to lift the car.

I agree with Jonny as both my ‘86 nd ‘78 have the threaded holes.

These are just the plugs to fill the bores/thread.
