964 injectors in a 3.2

Hi will 964 injectors fit a 88 3.2 carrera engine and will they offer any flow benefit?

Won't work with original ECU: 964 injectors are high impedance, 3.2 has low impedance injectors, plus they are wired differently: 964 has all of them wired independetly (running in full sequential mode), 3.2 has them wired as two banks (3 injectors in each).
Physically they fit, yes.

Modern injectors for the 3.2, and the ECU tune to run them, are available from Sal Carceller...

Today’s high impedance injectors, however, are able to outperform those older low impedance injectors at larger flow rates due to their newer designs, tighter manufacturing tolerances and much lighter moving parts(examples are our 900cc, 1100cc and 2150cc/min injectors). A valve and spring assembly from a current high-z injector may weigh less than 1/3rd of the assembly from an older injector.

Frequently Asked Questions Regarding low imp vs high imp injectors.

Personally, my 87 Carrera has been on high impedance injectors for decades and performs amazing provided you find the right flow rate.

Cheers,

Joe

If one wants performance improvement and truly modern ECU, there's VEMS plug and play kit available for 911 3.2 (and also for other Porsches): VEMS for Porsche
