Impulse senders...how common is a failure?

Howdy-

Curious as to if this is a do-it-while your in there deal...
My car has unknown mileage and I am doing the clutch. While I'm at it, I'm wondering if there is a way to test (via ohmmeter, etc.) the 2 impulse senders at the flywheel. To just replace them looks like about $250 from Pelican, but I'd hate to do it later in the summer. Looks like a tough area to get at later.

No problems as of yet. What do you think?

Garage
I know of at least 2 that have failed, maybe three. It's a pain to replace in the car.
