My first 911!
I picked this up from a fellow pelican a few months ago. 1976 3.2 G50. Hasn’t been on the road for a few years. I had the ECU rebuilt, new spark plugs and injector O rings. I’ve been driving it around the block a few times and it runs really good. Now I need to get it smogged and be on the road again (legally). Anyone know “a smog guy” in San Diego?

Sweet ride and welcome another fellow San Diegan, I just bought my first one a couple months back too. Checkout Poway Smog as the guy there did a great job helping me out as I had to replace my cat to pass smog.
Dig the vintage BBS gold basketweaves on the car too

76 with a 3.2? That won't pass Cali smog visual check. If it has the 3.2 cat etc it may pass the sniff test. I think you'll need a very friendly smog guy. Good luck though.

You may have to go to a referee to cert
It will need a cat. Or I have heard of people getting a P.O. Box in boulevard or the desert to avoid smog |

Unless it has a turbo, axe the badge.

Thanks everyone for the info. It does have a cat and all other smog equip. According to Mark at Performance, it’s ready to pass the sniff test, but not visual. Once I get it on the road, I’ll modify to my liking: Fuchs, bright trim and perhaps clip the tail.

Most smog places won’t know what to look for on a visual to be able to know if it’s a 3.2 versus a 3.0. There is always a chance but probably small.

Congrats and welcome. Love the turbo look (except the badge) and absolutely agree it will look better on Fuchs.

If it's a complete swap, I would try getting it certified.

Looks like “friendly smog guys” are like unicorns so I may have to visit the referee. Yes it has G50 with cut torsion bar so there might be a coilover conversion in its future (way future)

I've never seen a center dash vent like that in a '76 before. Engine and trans and dash swap? I think pmax was looking for a pic of the surgery to get the g50 in there.

Nice ride!
I'm in the process of building a '78 and plan to source a 3.2. I will have to make the 3.2 complete, smog wise, as it left the factory. Then schedule with the smog referee, and get the swap approved. That gives you a sticker to put in the door jamb so a standard smog shop will smog it. Yours looks complete (air box, cat etc). You might get through easily. BUT, yours is a 1976? If it has a 1975 build date on the door jamb VIN plate you might be exempt, they go by build date, not model year. Wouldnt that be awesome!!
