Installing 139 fog lights and switch
I purchased a pair of 139 model fog lights for my 911T. I have a few questions.
Do I need to remove bumper to install lights? Are brackets needed to mount them? Also the car did not have a switch but it has a blank on the dash. How do I access this? I looked inside the the trunk but cannot see access there looking behind and around the air ducting. I was thinking if I removed the radio I might be able to get to it. Also there is no existing wiring. So I believe I would have to run wires to that point on the dash. The fuse box calls for a 25 fuse but I have no idea as tho the gauge of wire needed. Is this all a DIY'er or better handled by a pro? I have this switch I recently purchased. I'm in hopes that it is correct. ![]() ![]() |

Remove the mounting plates--there should be access to the nuts holding the plates from the back side of the bumper. Inside the space, you will see the bracket welded to the bumper with the mounting holes for the shaft from the lights. The only thing I can offer on the wiring is that the fogs are supposed to be wired to operate only when the head lights are on, so the wiring will have to include the circuit for the head lights. Can't help on the access to the switch hole or the actual wiring of the switch to the lamps, but I suspect it will require a relay. Others will chime in to add more details. BTW, you double posted so you might want to delete the other post before someone answers that one, or link it to this one, directly.

^^^ I posted in the other thread :-)
Amending my note, just tap into the headlight switched hot to run the switch, so it only operates when the HL are on (the relay trigger). IIRC the schematic shows something like this... |

You will not be able to access the rear of the switch from under the dash. You can only get to the electrical contacts for the switch from the trunk. Additionally the switch is mounted from the trunk side.

Thank you for the input. Very helpful info, much appreciated. I'm thinking I'll give this to a pro to work it out. It double posted when I tried to edit because the pic of the switch did not show. When I edited the post ry and add a nothe jpg image it double posted.

If you let a pro do it, just ensure they already use the wires in the fenders so you don't need to punch holes in the chassis!!!
