Hi Joe,
might be an idea to look for a full intake with all the assorted bits off a donor car? 1980 intake openings on the engine might be smaller than earlier engines (dunno for sure when that changed) , so you might run into troubles with that. Whatever you do, do not be tempted to try and put lambda on your CIS system, it is the worst with regards to troubleshooting, difficulty of install, complexity, etc...a bandaid on a bandaid on a bandaid. Try and find a 78/79 WUR and FD combination that has been proven to work on 3 liter SC cars. That's the basics of it. Maybe have them rebuilt. Then test with wideband. The rest is of secondary importance. (auxiliary stuff for warmup etc) cheers, Jan |

Yeah after some late night reading, I was able to decide to source a -033 Fuel Distributor as well as a -045 Warm up regulator. Once sourced, I'm going to do a proper backdate and clean up the engine once its out of the car. From there, i'll ensure vacuum routing and such will be back to 78 spec. I read that most people only run into this problem when putting early runners on a late model 3.0 motor. you are correct the runners are differently sized in diameter. I plan on just swapping out my FD and keeping the same intake runners while pairing it with the correct WUR. I do plan on putting in a bung for an 02 sensor in general - even if just for diagnosis and then have it plugged when not in use. Who knows once I get it out though, you know how it goes. -Joe |
