The different looks of 911 headlights and their rings.
What do you like and why ? The last picture is current.

I prefer the look of the Euro H4's chrome or painted.
Never been a fan of the "sugar-scoops"...they seem to disrupt the flow of the fender line. Does that make sense? I went with chrome rings on my SC as an accent to the polished lip Fuchs & not wanting to hassle with matching the paint of the fender to the new trim rings. ![]()

Well, there's two cars that look like they were assembled yesterday. When the paint, shine and fit look like that, it really doesn't matter what headlights are used.

Bob,
Euro painted to match the body is the way to go IMO. But what stuns me is that I can't see a single rock chip on your car... or was it recently repainted? Why is that? I love the way your 911 reflects the sky in those shots. Nice ride! - Michiel

I debated about this for a long time. If I had the OE wheels I would go with the painted rings, but since I have aftermarket wheels I think the chrome rings made a better improvement for my car over the painted rings.

My car was stock (US) when I bought it and the first thing I changed was to the Euro style. However, I changed them back after a few months, just like the US style better.

Generally speaking, I prefer body-color-painted Euro rings.
But then, I also really liked the way the US-spec ones looked on my old car. ![]()

I made the switch to H4's a couple of weeks ago. A cleaner look IMHO.

For me I like the euro style. On the wife's 76 I think the chrome euros look best (it goes along with the chrome trim) on my 87 the painted euros look the best with the black trim on the car (not a fan of black rings).

I guess it depends on the year of the car whether or not monochrome rings look best. I'm prejudiced...I could go back to the original chrome sugar scoops, since I still have the parts. But gosh, I like the H-1's with chrome rings that I bought a few years, er, decades ago.

Euro H4's with painted rings on late cars with black window trim.
Euro H4's with chrome rings on early cars with chrome window trim. Or.....On the rare RS/RSR/IROC look cars black rings can look period correct and really nice. IMO Bryan |

Bob,
Can I get on the waiting list to buy your Turbo? I'm fairly local so shipping wouldn't be a problem...... ![]() I'd ask to see a few more pictures but I don't know if my heart could take it. It always starts to race when I see one pop up.

I prefer the Euro rings over the US rings, but chrome belongs on the 73 and older longhoods, and painted looks best on the newer cars (as if a '74 was a new car ![]()

IMNSHO, the euro-H4s impart a cleaner swept back look. Chrome surrounds look great on the earlier cars with chrome trim, or as an accent to the short hoods with polished (or ahem... chromed rims) or other brightwork. If no brightwork, like Bob's beauty, painted is the way to go. The traditional sugar scoops look good when keeping a car 'period correcto' or else need to be retired to the dustbins of history, to later be sold on Ebay for MILLIONS!! (insert manical laugh).

Man oh man, there are some nice cars on this thread so far.
Personally I agree that the cars with bright trim should use the Euro look chrome w/ H4's and the later cars with black trim should be painted Euro trim rings. pwd72s - I'd give...well, almost ANYTHING to have a car like yours. Gawd, that car is awesome. Jack - Like everyone here I really like BB2, but personally? BB1 was an incredible car. 1974Carrera and Type 911 - If the rest of your cars look remotely like thesetwo small shots - you are lucky lucky guys.
