Where to send a turbo for rebuild and restore

Any recommendations on a quality outfit to send a turbo for rebuilding?
Thanks - Chris

There are a lot of quality rebuilders and hopefully someone suggests one close to your home.

This post is to note who not to use. I have had several turbos catastrophically fail after having them rebuilt by Evergreen Turbo in Florida. Their internals were poorly reworked and modified to the point they failed. If it were not for the compressor hose catching it, the housing would have been blown clear of the car.

Thanks for the heads up. That’s just what I am trying to avoid. No matter if they are close I just want it to come back looking and working as new.

Midwest turbo connection. www.midwestturboconnection.com
I've had a couple pair of 288GTO turbos rebuilt with them - quick turnaround time, they'll give you a full report of all the tech info on the work your turbos needed, and they send them back looking great! The stuff I sent was pretty rare, and they had all the parts for it on hand!

You can do it yourself if you're careful. Snag a junk turbo and take it apart just to understand how things go together, but I took apart my RS2 turbo to cerakote the hotside and CHRA and then reassembled it without issues.

Key points: MARK THE SHAFT,NUT, AND COMPRESSOR WHEEL. Turbos spin at crazy RPMs, and they're balanced from the factory. The only thing that should really 'wear' on turbos is seals and bearings, and they're not that hard to replace. If you realign the shaft/nut/compressor wheel as it was when you took it apart, it should still be balanced.

Anyway. It's an option.

I had a great experience with Evergreen Turbo in Florida. Quick turnaround time, fair pricing and great quality.
