Difficulty adjusting valves 1978 911SC

I am trying to adjust my valves. The nuts on the adjusting screw are hard to move. The screws threads and nut threads appear to be OK, but the valves are hard to adjust because the nuts turn so hard. Is this normal? Has anyone else had this problem? Seems to be a issue for intake and exhaust valves.

NOt normal, it's an M8 nut so it should not be tightened to death. Put a long closed end 13mm wrench on it and turn.

The adjusters stretch if they've been overtightened. As mentioned its an M8 but it's very fine thread so doesn't need to be tightened that hard.

I've got rockers I can't get the adjusters out of -- doubtless due to the nut having been way over tightened. Easy to do if ever you under tighten one.

Never had the nut stick, though.

I'm not sure how you correct this without removing the rocker, which isn't what you got into doing a valve adjustment/check for.

If you have a screw driver with a blade end just right, and a wide fat handle, maybe you can hold the screw even with all the force you need to move the nut? If that almost works, but the last final tug on the wrench moves the screw a little, do the adjusting with that in mind - set a bit wide, so the final tug moves it to where you want it.
