				964 Sparkplug wires

I made an unfortunate discovery yesterday while in stalling my Classic Retrofit High Output Alternator. The spark plug wires were all VERY hard to remove (wanted to pul the 3 that go over the fan). 2 of the 3 came off, and the terminals in the cap are covered in white dust. The 3rd came off as well, but the 90 degree end stayed on the cap. For those that do not know, this is the end that is crimped onto the end of the wires under the boot. So I am in for new plug wires. Prices seem to vary a lot from factory to Clewett and others. Does anyone have any suggestions? Beru 10-8533-607 for a 964 are $543 for a set Beru 10-8533-116 for a 993 are $483.75 Beru 964.609.050.00 for a 964 1990 are $509.50 Beru 993.609.050.00 for a 993 are $446.50 Clewett are $327.00 per set and cover various 964 and 993’s including then turbos So what’s the difference?Seems silly not to get the Clewett’s, but the price seems out of range as well. These go in my Rat Rod, and the coils are mounted on the drivers side in front of the electrics/fusses that are also mounted there.

Lots of choices as you have stated. I recently purchased Clewett wires for my 993-based racing engine. I am very happy with them, and have really appreciated Mr. Clewett's commitment to service and quality.

Interesting... I tried to get some info and perhaps order some Magnacores last year but I could never get through to them. I think I have their catalogue, and if I recall correctly, it is very detailed and has lots of part numbers. After a few tries I gave up and called Mr. Clewett. Again, very happy with them... my application is twin plug so lots of wires. My Clewett set was made to custom dimensions.

Duc, from magnecore themselves. Their website sucks but I emailed them and told them what I wanted. They emailed back confirming with a price that included shipping. Received them a little over a week later.

I ordered Clewett’s and hope to get them installed today, along with new caps and rotors. Do people put a little dielectric grease under the boots to prevent the corrosion my existing wire have between the wire and the caps, or between the wires and the plugs?
