Does muffer tip DIAMETER affect sound (db)?
Wondering if increasing the muffler tip size (diameter) would increase the loudness (db) or sound tone (higher/lower pitch).
eg 2.5" vs 3" vs 4" Thanks Mike |

When I put my B&B on, the exhaust tone dipped considerably in pitch. This is going from the stock 2" pipe to a 3" oval pipe. It sounds a lot angrier now.

I don't know about sound, but I do know it makes the car CONSIDERABLY faster. Ask all the guys in the Hondas. I hear stickers and yellow paint help, too.

In my experience....sound is effected by the placement of the internal baffles, the size of the outlet, which CAN be applified by the size of the tip.....
So the the final answer is....IT DEPENDS.... ![]()
