Sources to rebuild 964 distributor?
Belt broke a couple weeks ago while doing a few dyno pulls. Put a new belt in the dizzy but not comfortable with 28 year old bearings in there. Don't have the time to tear it all apart, so looking for recommendation to do a proper rebuild for me.

Ed,
There's a local Rennsport PCA member who rebuilds those , he charges $700. Canadian ... i have no affiliation with the guy buy you can reach out to him at -> fm395@ncf.ca His name is A.Clanner , if you can't get hold of him and this works for you , let me know and i'll try on my end. I have no idea whatsoever how much those rebuilds go for, so this is only a suggestion !

I had my SC distributor rebuilt by Kurt at Parts Klassik
Did a great job. Might want to reach out to see if he does 964 ones as well.

I was looking into this recently. For similar price I could get an older style 12 point dizzy, get rid of the belt issues, and have a cool look for the same price. Just a thought.

Thanks everyone. If the going rate for a rebuild in as much as $700 I'll source the bearings and do it myself. I already had the distributor apart to replace the belt and it's simple work. Bearings can't be more than $100 so I'll save myself $600 in labor for the couple hours of work. Was just trying to save myself the time.

That was in Canadian money !!! Here is the quote in Rennsport from the guy who rebuilds them ... if you do it yourself, i guess the real issue is finding the correct parts. They are rebuilt properly using all four "new" bearings, a new belt and drive pin. Replacing just the belt is not the solution since a seized bearing is the cause of failure. Bosch specific (non-standard) FAG and INA bearings are sourced from Europe which I pick up while on vacation there.
